chooses Iowa StateNakamura won the state title at 125 pounds this year and was a state runner-up twice. He compiled a 31-1 record as a senior and is 102-12 in his career.
In his four state tournament matches in February, Nakamura defeated his opponents by an average score of 13-2.
Baldwin coach Mike Donahoo said it is a big deal for a wrestler from Hawaii to go to a program like Iowa State.
"For us, that's like someone going to Duke (to play basketball) or going to Nebraska to play football," Donahoo said. "In terms of wrestling, it's the biggest thing ever to come out of Hawaii.
"I know they are usually in the top five and they have (three-time NCAA champion) Cael Sanderson."
Iowa State went 20-4 this year and finished sixth at the NCAA championships. The Cyclones have won eight national championships, and finished second in 2000.

Wahine sailors lead after first day at championship
The University of Hawaii women's sailing team was in first place heading into the second day of the ICSA Women's Championships at Cambridge, Mass., today.The Wahine scored 50 points in the 18-school fleet yesterday. Tied for second with 65 points are Old Dominion and Dartmouth.
The UH team of Molly O'Bryan and Sarah Hitchcock led the A division with 17 points, while the B division team of Marin Diskant and Melody Torres was in sixth with 33 points.
Local gymnast gets first place in nationals
Ewa's Anna Hildebrand helped her team claim first place in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics Level 9 Western National Championships, held May 19-20 in San Diego, Calif.Hildebrand trains with the Hawaiian Island Twisters team.
Hildebrand's best marks were a 9.0 in the vault and an 8.9 in the floor exercise. She finished with an overall score of 34.95.
