>> Kelley Fitzgerald has been awarded a Klingenstein Summer Institute Fellowship at Lawrenceville School (N.J.). The Sacred Hearts Academy fifth-grade teacher will receive full tuition for four graduate credits as well as room and board when classes are held June 15-30.>> Glaire McCafferey Griffin, Social Studies Department chair at Sacred Hearts Academy, has been awarded a Fulbright-Hays Summer Seminar Fellowship by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations. She will join 15 other teachers selected from around the country to spend a month studying and traveling in China this summer.
>> Cheryl Lehua Kauhane was named president and chief executive officer of the YWCA of Oahu effective April 1. She has been with the YWCA of Oahu since 1997, most recently as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Kauhane, who received her undergraduate degree from UH-Manoa and her MBA from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University (La.), is a board member of the UH Alumni Association, Historic Hawaii Foundation and Waikiki Surf Club.
>> Lauren Calhoun and Celinda Stanton were named the top two youth volunteers in Hawaii for 2001 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. They were each awarded $1,000. Calhoun and Stanton traveled to Washington, D.C., where they were honored by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in a ceremony May 6 at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Calhoun is a resident of Kapaa, Kauai. Stanton lives in Waimanalo.
