Stephen Kim tapped to head Get2Hawaii

Get2Hawaii has named Stephen Kim president of the high-tech start-up. The company, an affiliate of Panda Travel, markets business-to-business software designed for the travel industry.

Kim, 42, returns to Hawaii after being chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Seattle-based Aegis Capital Inc. and Aegis Software, Design & Manufacturing, respectively. Kim also has served as an advisor to Hawaii's Technology Development Corp., where he has worked on creating a strategy to build business incubators in Honolulu and on Maui.

CPB recognized for contributions

Central Pacific Bank was recognized as the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation's 2001 corporate honoree Wednesday at the 10th annual Kulia I Ka Nu'u awards.

Chairman and CEO Joichi Saito accepted the award on behalf of the bank, which through the years has provided donations, sponsorships, scholarships, volunteer activities and special community events for Hawaii's public schools.

Former Kauai District Superintendent Mitsugi Nakashima, a Waimea High graduate, and Hawaii Business Hall of Fame member and Farrington High graduate Cha Thompson, who with husband Jack has grown Tihati Productions into a thriving business, received awards as distinguished nominees.

Sharlene Arita of Noelani Elementary and Lynne Sueoka of Aiea Elementary, both on Oahu, and Cheryl Shintani of Kauai's Koloa Elementary received Tom Adams Good Idea Grant Awards.
