Wilton, UH close University of Hawaii men's volleyball coach Mike Wilton, who just finished his ninth season with the Warriors, will be coaching at UH for at least another year and possibly longer.

Star-BulletinWilton, whose contract ends next Thursday, met with athletic director Hugh Yoshida yesterday morning.
"The good news is that I get to keep coaching," Wilton said. "What I took out of the meeting was that the department's just delighted with the success of the program. We're going to be around for a little while."
Yoshida was not available for comment last night.
Wilton will meet again with Yoshida on June 6 to work out "the nuts and bolts" of the contract. His current contract will expire, as the Board of Regents makes the final decision regarding coach's contracts and does not reconvene until mid-June.
"I've been down that road before," Wilton said. "We still got to eat and everything worked out OK."
Wilton worked without a contract for five months last year when it expired in May. He signed his current one-year contract, worth slightly more than $62,000, last October.
When he first began coaching at Hawaii in the fall of 1992, the athletic department offered him a three-year roll-over contract. At the conclusion of each season, a review would be held and another year would be added to the contract. But in 1998, the regents replaced the roll-over with fixed-year contracts.
Coaches who have coached a minimum of five years and have done well are eligible for multi-year contracts.
Through nine seasons, Wilton compiled a 176-79 record. UH finished this year with a 19-7 record and was the runner-up in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference tournament.
