Health and wellness
will be discussed

The Hawaii Public Health
Association will hold its annual
meeting and present awards

Faye Wong, president-elect of the American Health Association, will discuss "Public Health: The National Perspective for the 21st Century" at the Hawaii Public Health Association's annual meeting tomorrow at Tokai University, ninth floor auditorium.

"Integrating Complementary Therapies for Health and Wellness" is the theme of the meeting, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Two Hawaii Public Health Association achievement awards will be presented for outstanding public health contributions to:

>> Christina Simmons of the state Department of Health, Women, Infants and Children's (WIC) program, for her breastfeeding promotion and advocacy efforts.

>> Ho'ola Lahui Hawaii for establishment of a community health center on Kauai.

A state Senate resolution honoring 150 years of public health achievement in Hawaii will be presented to the state Department of Health, Hawaii Public Health Association and American Public Health Association at a Hawaii Public Health Association business meeting.

The cost is $70 for the day for nonmembers and $55 for members with on-site registration. For more information or to register, call Deborah Goebert, 547-4751.
