Star-BulletinNa Maka Hou: New Visions: About 100 works by 57 artists provide a study of the breadth of work being produced by artists of Native Hawaiian ancestry. Included are pieces in a variety of media, from featherwork, tapa and wood sculpture to installations. Four pieces from the show have been purchased for the academy's permanent collection. Through June 17.
Hawai'i and Its People: The new permanent installation is devoted to Hawaii's artistic heritage from the time of Western contact to today.
Pupu 'o Ni'ihau: An Exhibition of Ni'ihau Shell Lei: Pays tribute to the famous shells and lei-makers of the Forbidden Island, curated by Linda Moriarty. Through Sept. 30.
Tropical Energy: Recent Ceramic Sculptures and Drawings by Jun Kaneko: In Gallery 3, the front lawn and courtyards. Through July 22. See story here.
