>> Jim Austin has been named director of public relations for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. He joins the company from Pointe Hilton Resorts in Arizona.

RECOGNITION

>> Wayne Tanna has been awarded the William Reece Smith Jr. Special Services to Pro Bono Award by the American Bar Association/National Legal Aid and Defender Association's Equal Access to Justice Conference. Tanna was nominated for the award by Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii, where he serves on the executive board. He was recognized for developing a model program for forging a bridge between the legal and accounting professions in the Tax Clinics for the Homeless.

PROMOTIONS

>> Tom Ku has been named director of network technologies for the Information Technology Services Division at Hawaii Pacific University. He will manage the administration network and servers that support the university. Ku joined HPU in 1995.
