KANEOHE RANCH Co. Ltd., conducting major renovation of commercial and retail property in Kailua, is shopping for a new CEO. Randolph Moore retires June 1 to pursue another career as a middle school math teacher. Hey, buddy! Can you
spare a CEO?"It's not a secret," he said, adding that he's "entertained that such wild stories are going around." He said it is true, and doesn't see his career change as a big deal.
Moore, 62, is working toward a teaching certificate, attending post-baccalaureate classes at Chaminade University of Honolulu, but would not hazard a guess as to when the process will be complete. "I applied a long time ago with the (state Department of Education)," he said, "and what they've told me is that somebody will probably call me in August."
He hopes to receive "emergency certification" to enable him to be in a public school classroom in the fall.
Moore serves on the boards of directors of Hawaii companies such as Kauai's Grove Farm Co., Maui Land & Pineapple Co., Hawaii Stevedores Inc., and Koga Engineering and Construction Inc. However, he said, "teaching is at least a full-time job, so I don't anticipate having a whole lot of spare time for other things."
