Hawaii
upset with
tournament
seeding

The Warriors are No. 4
to the dismay of Coach Wilton

Staff & wire reports

The top-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team feels it is being slighted in the upcoming Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament.

The Warriors (17-6 overall, 12-5 conference) were seeded fourth in the tourney yesterday, and are scheduled to host No. 5 Southern California (13-8, 10-7) on Saturday.

Hawaii has filed an official protest because it feels it should be seeded higher.

"We'll play anybody, and that's for sure, but we have some complaints about the process that's gone on here," UH coach Mike Wilton said.

"The way we figure it, we should be hosting somebody else, like Stanford," he added. "And so we want to make sure the right thing is being done."

Hawaii hopes to learn today if its protest is successful.

The Warriors ended their regular season with losses to No. 2 Brigham Young Friday and Saturday.
