NEW JOBS

>> Jason George has been named community relations director at Parents and Children Together, a family-service nonprofit agency. He is responsible for external communications, publications, fund-raising and community events for the agency. George was the former annual giving manager at the Hawaii Foodbank.

>> Patrick Yamada has been named senior vice president of the commercial real estate loan division at American Savings Bank. Yamada moves to American Savings after managing the commercial real estate lending division of Bank of Hawaii for the past 12 years.

RECOGNITION

>> Billy Fields of Fields Masonry has been named winner of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau's Keep It Hawaii "Kahili" award for his efforts to preserve and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture. Fields, a licensed mason, was also trained by kupuna in traditional dry stone masonry. He practices uhau humu pohaku, an ancient traditional method of dry-stacking rocks without mortar. Fields also learns the necessary prayers, chants, rituals and family history that enable him to enter a sacred or historic site. His efforts also include teaching classes and workshops to encourage awareness about restoration projects.
