Oscar Lopez went 5-for-5 and Brandon Gemoll drove in four runs as Fresno State routed Hawaii-Hilo, 15-2, in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game last night at Wong Stadium.

The Bulldogs rapped out 15 hits against four Vulcan pitchers in improving to 27-16 overall, 11-9 in the WAC.

Fresno State took control of the game in the second inning, scoring seven runs on six hits.

Francisco Nieves (5-1) picked up the complete-game victory, scattering five hits and striking out six.

The Vulcans (5-28, 3-18) scored single runs in the second and third innings. Billy Rayl doubled and scored in the second, and Brian Rooke scored on Kaliko Oligo's grounder in the third.

The teams were to conclude their series today with a noon game at Wong.
