Wahine wreak havoc
on record book

The University of Hawaii women's basketball team broke seven team records during the 2000-01 season.

Individually, the Wahine broke two records and tied two more.

The record that took the worst beating was for blocked shots. Christen Roper stuffed 96 opponent field goal attempts, double the previous mark of 48 held by Nani Cockett.

The Wahine led the Western Athletic Conference in scoring defense (59.1 points per game), scoring margin (plus-10), field goal percentage (.425), field goal percentage defense (.351), free-throw percentage (.759), rebounding defense (36.2 per game), rebounding margin (plus 5.1) and blocked shots per game (4.4).

Hawaii (26-8) finished with a final unofficial RPI rating of 44, the best of the season.

The 34 games was the most ever played by a Wahine team and the 26 wins was the second best in school history.

An eight-game home winning streak has been started, and next year's team will try to add on to that.

Jana Gabrielova's 136 assists are the fourth best single-season total.

Dainora Puida's 285 rebounds are the sixth best single-season effort. However, it should be noted that Judy Mosley occupies four of the five spots above Puida.

Crystal Lee became the ninth Wahine to crack the 500-point barrier in a season. Her 544 points is the seventh best single-season total.

Roper is second on the career list for blocked shots with 118 and needs 24 more to be No. 1.
