Dainora Puida was the recipient of the Ah Chew Goo Achievement Award at the University of Hawaii Wahine basketball team banquet last night.

Puida, a senior center from Siauliai, Lithuania, returned from off-season knee surgery and overcame cultural and language barriers to win the most prestigious individual honor.

The award is given to the Wahine player who attains basketball excellence through dedication, determination and perseverance.

The Most Outstanding Offensive Player Award went to senior forward Crystal Lee. The Spokane, Wash., resident led UH in scoring, averaging 16 points a game. Her 46 3-pointers this season is the second highest total ever.

Junior guard Jana Gabrielova was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player. She used her quickness and unlimited energy supply to play in-your-face defense against the other team's top guard. Gabrielova led the team in steals (1.5 per game).

Christa Brossman, a freshman wing player from Pullman, Wash., was named the Most Inspirational Player and won the team's Scholar-Athlete Award.
