Boxer Guillermo wins

Samson Guillermo of Waianae decisioned David Martinez of Stockton, Calif., 28-16, in the semifinals of the U. S. Challenge boxing tournament at Lake Placid, N.Y., yesterday

Guillermo will face Johnny Vasquez of Snyder, Texas, for the 119-pound championships today.

Goo, Nash at QB club

University of Hawaii women's head basketball coach Vince Goo and UH men's associate head coach Bob Nash will be the featured speakers at Monday's Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting at the Pagoda Restaurant.

Other speakers include : Wahine basketball player Crystal Lee; Jill Nunokawa, civil rights counselor at UH; and Leon Schumaker, UH's student services director.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the noon program.

Seasiders win again

The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's and women's tennis teams both scored 6-3 victories yesterday in the West Florida Classic at Pensacola, Fla., to advance to today's finals

The top-ranked Seasider women rallied from a 2-1 deficit against third-ranked Lynn to improve to 29-0. BYUH has now won 96 matches in a row.

With yesterday's win over defending NCAA Div. II champion Lander, the Seasider men earned their 22nd consecutive win, improving their record to 25-1.

The Seasider women meet No. 22 Valdosta State while the men take on top-ranked Drury for their respective tournament titles today.

New radio show starts

KHBZ AM-990 will launch a new live call-in sports radio talk show beginning tomorrow night.

"The Sports Show'' runs from 5-7 p.m. and is hosted by Jared Gruggett, Doug Durocher, Chuck Miske and Larry Coode.

Tamanaha run tomorrow

The Norman Tamanaha Memorial 15-Kilometer Run is tomorrow at Kapiolani Park.

The race begins at 6 a.m. The entry fee is $15.

The run is also the RRCA State of Hawaii 15K Championship. For information, call 295-6777.
