Wilson player of week

Cortland Wilson, the freshman shortstop for the University of Hawaii baseball team, was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

In six games, Wilson hit .542 with three doubles and one home run. He also scored nine times and had 10 RBI.

BYUH tennis wins again

The top-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii women's team rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play to win all six singles matches for a 7-2 victory over second-ranked West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., yesterday.

The Seasiders (27-0) have won their last 94 matches.

The BYUH men's team (23-1) also defeated West Florida yesterday, downing the Argonauts, 5-3.

The Seasiders next compete in the West Florida Classic, today through Saturday.

Hula Bowl rebroadcast

The Hula Bowl Maui All-Star Football Classic will be rebroadcast Saturday on Oceanic Cable 16.

The 56th annual game was played on Jan. 19 at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku. The nationally televised game was blacked out throughout most of Hawaii.

UH golf finishes 12th

The University of Hawaii men's golf team finished 12th in the Western Intercollegiate yesterday in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Senior Russell Nygard shot a final round 69--214 to finish in sixth, his best finish since winning the Hawaii Fall Classic. Teammates Justin Kim finished at 222, Scott Carlyle at 224, Matthew Kodama at 233 and Norman-Ganin Asao at 240.

Oregon won the team title with an 850, 17 strokes ahead of Washington. San Diego State's Lars Johansson won the playoff against Jason Higton of Pacific for medalist honors.

UH sailors to Friis Race

The University of Hawaii coed and women's sailing teams travel to Massachusetts to compete in the Friis Trophy Team Race this weekend.

Hawaii is the only representative from the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association in the nine-school event.

The Wahine are ranked fourth in the latest Sailing World magazine coaches poll. Hawaii's coed team is ranked No. 13.
