Chang, who previously was editor of Hawaii Business Magazine, joined the Star-Bulletin in 1993 and spent eight years there until a change in the paper's ownership two weeks ago. The 13 women in the 52-member House credited Chang for writing about controversial issues to create a public forum where readers could exchange ideas and improve the state.
"In her work and her life, she has been a supporter of women in our community and has used her talents to uplift the status of women and explain many of the issues facing women in our society and state today," said House Majority Floor Leader Marilyn B. Lee (D, Mililani).
