TOM KIELY'S Team Unlimited sports marketing company is moving from Bishop Street's Pauahi Tower into suite 302 of Waterfront Plaza's Building 2. Sporty tenant is
heading for the RowSenior Vice President of Marketing Janet Clark said the company will be in the new offices "April 2, Monday -- we couldn't make it April 1, although we did think about it briefly."
Team Unlimited's sister company, Team Event Management Inc., and its television division, which has been housed in the IBM building, will also move into the new space. "This is the first time since the (1988) birth of the company that we'll all be in one place," Clark said.
New Wave gets a GM
NEW WAVE Broadcasting LP has hired the first general manager for its Honolulu stations. The GM in place when the company bought the stations in 1998 was let go.Jeff Schatz, from Tribune Radio in Denver, will oversee the five-station New Wave Honolulu cluster, which includes 93.1 KQMQ FM, 97.5 KPOI FM, KORL 99.5 FM, 102.7 KKDB FM and KQMQ 690 AM. The move means a homecoming for Schatz's wife, Kimberly, a Punahou graduate. A dental surgeon, she'll join the practice of Dr. Benjamin Koike, DDS, in Kahala -- her dad. The Schatzes have a 2-year-old son, Justin.
Another new chief
CLEAR CHANNEL Communications Inc.'s seven-station Honolulu cluster has also imported a new executive. Paul Wilson comes from Utah as the stations' new director of programming, to oversee the program directors of KHVH AM 830, KUCD 101.9 FM, KDNN 98.5 FM, KIKI 93.9 FM and KHBZ 990 AM. Wilson will also serve as program director of KSSK 92.3 FM and 590 AM. Wilson was most recently program director of Trumper Communications' KOSY in Salt Lake City.In replacing Jeff Silvers, who transferred to Atlanta several months ago, Wilson has big shoes to fill. Silvers once described himself as "the most powerful programmer in the Pacific."
