Taguchi went 3-for-6 with a single, double and home run. Senior first baseman Jeremiah Yacap also extended his hitting streak to 18 games, tying a school record.
In the first game, the Sea Warriors pounded 10 hits and took advantage of three errors in downing Teikyo Post, an NCAA Division II squad from Connecticut, 8-2.
The teams continue their series with 4 p.m. doubleheaders today, Thursday and Friday.
Seasiders net two wins
The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's and women's tennis teams won their respective matches over Montana State yesterday in Laie.The Seasider women won their 80th consecutive dual match with a 9-0 win over the Bobcats. The Seasider men defeated the Bobcats, 7-2.
Matthews takes lead
Carl Matthews Sr., an assistant pro at Mid-Pacific Country Club, carded a 1-under 71 yesterday to take the first-round lead in the Ohana Hearing Care Senior Open at the Waikele Golf Club.Wailua's Dan Nishimoto was four shots back at 75, with Tommy Ukauka of Bay View at 77 in the pro flight.

BYU-Hawaii drops pair
Fourth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State shut out Brigham Young-Hawaii, 6-0 and 9-0, in a nonconference softball doubleheader yesterday in Laie.The Seasiders (6-16) will host Wisconsin-Parkside tomorrow in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
Vulcans rained out
Yesterday's softball doubleheader between the University of Hawaii-Hilo and Wisconsin-Parkside was cancelled.The games will not be rescheduled. The Vulcans (8-6) will host St. Xavier in doubleheaders today and tomorrow at the Hilo softball field.
