Roosevelt freshman Xyra Suyetsugu accomplished a personal first on Monday, when she shot a hole-in-one during Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division competition at the New Ewa Beach Golf Course. Freshman ace a first
Suyetsugu used a sand wedge on the 81-yard, par-3 No. 8 hole.
"It just rolled in," she said.
Suyetsugu shot a 36 on the front-nine and ended up with a 74 for 18 holes. It was the first time she played a full round on the course.
"(An ace) doesn't happen very often" said OIA golf coordinator Duane Izumi.
Suyetsugu said she started playing golf four years ago. "I was watching my dad play, and I picked it up from him," she said.
