Muslim Festival

Saeed Shakir yesterday recites a passage from the Koran, the
sacred book of Islam, as Muslims celebrate Eid Aladha, or the
Festival of Sacrifice, at the Manoa Valley Recreation Center.
Eid Aladha commemorates the prophet Abraham's willingness
to sacrifice everything for God, including the life of his son,
Ishmael. The Manoa Valley celebration was open to the
public, in hopes of familiarizing Hawaii residents
with the practices of Islam.
