Cheap Tickets Inc., a Honolulu-based national retailer of discount travel, said it will close its University Square ticket office at 2615 S. King St. on April 17. No loss of jobs is involved, since the office has been staffed by two employees on loan from other Cheap Tickets outlets, said Sam Galeotos, president and chief executive officer. Cheap Tickets

Star-BulletinThe office was not doing enough business to justify keeping it open, Galeotos said.
Cheap Tickets has a much more profitable office at the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Atkinson Drive, its original ticket kiosk, and also has offices in Kaneohe, Pearl City and on Maui. It has sales offices across the mainland and does much of its business on the Internet and through telephone call centers.
The company started in 1986 by making arrangements with airlines to sell their unbooked seats at big discounts. Lately it has become a full-service travel company, selling hotel rooms, rental cars, cruises and other services.
