Hoopono Koolau Loa
seeks applicants for grants

Hoopono Koolau Loa Community Foundation, which serves people who reside from Kaaawa in Windward Oahu to Waimea on the North Shore, is accepting applications for two of its grants.

They are:

Bullet $5,000 to target one of the following: grass-roots/cultural; social services; community service; community development and organization; education; youth; business/ economic development; or health.

The foundation will consider such undertakings as training and education; direct social, recreational or health care services; creative activities; micro-enterprise, community-based economic development; seed money; and special projects' operating costs, direct service costs, communications (video and printed materials), conferences, special events challenge grants, matching grants and unrestricted gifts.

Bullet $20,000 to address programs identified by a City and County Community Development Block Grant, such as:

1) grants for the establishment, stabilization and expansion of micro-enterprises;
2) technical assistance, advice and business services to owners of micro-enterprises;
3) general support to owners of and persons developing micro-enterprises; and
4) training and technical assistance, or other support services to increase capacity to carry out micro-enterprise activities.

Complete application packages may be picked up at the following public schools: Sunset Beach Elementary, Kahuku Intermediate and High School, Kahuku Elementary, Laie Elementary, Hauula Elementary and Kaaawa Elementary.
