Athletes of the Week
Nick Borreca The senior broke two individual records at the state meet -- 50 freestyle (20.8) and 100 free (45.24) -- and swam in two record-setting relay events -- 200 and 400 freestyle.
PUNAHOU SWIMMING
Kristin Simunovich She won the 100 freestyle race (53.04) and also swam in two winning relay events, including anchor in the 400 freestyle -- in which the Buffanblu set a new state record of 3:37.83.

BASKETBALL
Keesha Aldridge, Aiea: Scored 46 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in three games during the Punahou Wahine Classic.William Broadus, Mililani: Sank a pair of free throws with seconds left to lift the Trojans over Baldwin in the state tournament.
D.C. Daniels, Kalaheo: Named the most outstanding player in the tournament; averaged 23 points in three wins and 12 rebounds in the final two games.
Justin Harris, St. Louis: Pulled down 16 rebounds to go with 17 points, four blocks and four assists in a win against Waiakea.
Richard Kim, Punahou: Hit a pair of 3-pointers and converted two steals into baskets in the second half of a win over Kahuku.
Amy Kotani, Moanalua: Averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists in three preseason wins.
Derek Low, Iolani: The point guard ran the Raider offense, averaging 15 points, and made a steal then an assist for the winning basket in OT against Leilehua.
Milia Macfarlane, Punahou: Averaged 18 points in two games in the Punahou Classic, to go along with seven treys, 10 rebounds and seven steals.
Eric Marshall, Leilehua: Averaged just over 20 points in four games, including a tournament-high 31 against Iolani.
Austin Souza, Honokaa: The point guard guided Dragons to third place finish, averaging 13 points a game.
Bobby Webster, Iolani: On two straight nights, in the quarters and semis, he scored the winning basket as time expired, including a layup to beat Honokaa in semis.
GOLF
Grant Yasui, Pearl City: Shot a 3-under par 68 for the best round at the Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division team competition at Makaha Valley Golf Course.
SWIMMING
Edward Afualo, Kapolei: Earned the Hurricanes' first swimming title at the state championships in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.25).Sara Delara, Maui: Was the girls' 1 meter diving champ, with 381.95 points.
Jessica Nohara, Lahainaluna: One of only two girls to win multiple events, including the 100 backstroke (58.68) and 200 freestyle (1:53.68).
Ashley Swart, Kaiser: Won the 200 individual medley (2:06.8) and the 500 freestyle (5:01.06).
Joshua Tyau, Kamehameha: Won the boys 1 meter diving title, with 395.2 points.
Hong Zhe Sun, Iolani: Broke a 20-year old state record in the 200 freestyle (1:40.78) and his own state record in the 100 backstroke (49.95).
MUSTANGS GO FOR SWEEP
With two-time state player of the year Brandy Richardson returning for her senior season, Kalaheo is one of the favorites to win a state title in the upcoming girls' basketball season.Only two other schools have had both the boys and girls teams win a basketball championship in the same year -- Kamehameha accomplished the feat in 1992 and Punahou pulled off a three-peat from 1979 through '81.
FORTY-FOUR YEARS AGO THIS WEEK
St. Louis won the inaugural Territorial High School Basketball Tournament 65-55 over Hilo, with Richard Apao scoring 20 points. Farrington would win the first state tournament in the spring of 1960.
