Siuaki Livai of Kahuku High School was named the George Archer Coach of the Year at the Honolulu Quarterback Club's 54th annual Banquet of Champions last night at the Pacific Beach Hotel. Kahukus Livai scores

Livai was one of 12 individuals who received special awards among nearly four dozen Hawaii individuals in 12 different categories recognized for their accomplishments in sports last year.
Livai was also chosen as the Male Sportsperson of the Year. The Female Sportsperson of the Year award went to Tita Ahuna, coach of Hawaii Pacific's national championship women's volleyball team.
The Quarterback Club also honored Olympians with Hawaii ties who participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, as well as national championship winners from Hawaii in 2000: the Brigham Young-Hawaii tennis team, Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team, St. Louis riflery team, Aiea District Six Little League team, Oahu Volleyball Club and St. Louis Cheerleading team.

Prep Male: Apana Nakayama, Molokai High, baseball.Prep Female: Milia Macfarlane, Punahou School, volleyball and basketball.
Adult Male: Sunny Garcia, surfing.
Adult Female: Lily Kahumoku, University of Hawaii, volleyball.
Senior Male (35-older): Michael Dudock, running and swimming.
Senior Female (35-older): Diane Stowell, swimming.
Neal S. Blaisdell Award : Dr. Allen Richardson, six-time aquatic sports physician at Olympic Games.
Scotty Schuman Award: Edwin S. N. Wong, co-founder and president of UH Na Koa football booster club.
Joe Reynolds Award: Paul Durham.
George Archer Coach of the Year Award: Siuaki Livai, Kahuku High, football.
Male Sportsperson of the Year: Siuaki Livai, Kahuku High, football coach.
Female Sportsperson of the Year: Tita Ahuna, HPU, women's volleyball coach.
Special Award: Bobo Olson, boxing.
Chaminade wins two
Chaminade swept a softball doubleheader from Brigham Young-Hawaii, 1-0 and 2-1, yesterday at Laie.Mellisa Marquez pitched a two-hitter in the opener, and an unearned run in the fifth inning secured the win for the Silverswords (2-4).
Lyza Halas doubled and Tami Layton singled her home for the Seasiders' (1-3) only run of the day.
Hawaii-Hilo 86, BYUH 84
At Cannon Activities Center, Kyle Bartholomew scored with 2.2 seconds left to give the Vulcans the victory.Jason Shumate scored a game-high 21 points for Hawaii-Hilo (16-10 overall, 11-6 PacWest).
Kerry Hendrickson led the Seasiders (14-12, 8-9) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Honors for PacWest trio
Hawaii Pacific's Holly Garcia was named co-PacWest Player of the Week and teammate Jessica Parra was picked as PacWest Pitcher of the Week for their performances in four weekend victories.Garcia had five RBI in four games. Parra tossed a a four-hit shutout against Chaminade Saturday.
BYU-Hawaii pitcher Summer George joined Garcia as the co-Player of the Week. George pitched 11 innings in last Saturday's 1-0 victory over Hawaii-Hilo.

World champion Sunny Garcia headlines the field of top surfers expected to compete in the HIC Pipeline Pro, which began its holding period today at the Banzai Pipeline.The holding period continues through March 4 as organizers look for the best three days of conditions.
