After waiting a day for the Texas Christian field to dry out, the Vulcans were held to nine hits in losing a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader, 14-2 and 6-1, to the Horned Frogs yesterday.
TCU broke a 1-1 tie in the opener with a four-run third inning on RBI singles by Walter Olmstead, Tom Bates and Austen Watkins, and Jason Price's double.
Chris Bradshaw pitched a complete game for TCU, allowing five hits, walking three and striking our four.
Justin Crowder gave up four hits, walked none and fanned eight in going the distance in the second game.
"We came out kind of flat and we ran into two pretty good pitchers that kept us off balance," Hilo coach Joey Estrella said.
Hilo's Billy Rayl was 3-for-7 on the day with one RBI.
Hilo (3-10, 2-3 WAC) concludes its series with TCU (6-5, 2-0) with a single game today.
