The Hawaii softball team's right-hander pitched complete-game shutouts against Stetson and Bethune-Cookman last week.
In 14 innings, Witt gave up seven hits, walked five, struck out 14 and didn't allow an earned run.
Hawaii's Kate Judd was nominated for player of the week honors, won by Amy Walter of San Jose State.
Kamehameha cheer fourth
The Kamehameha Schools varsity cheer team placed fourth at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla., this past weekend.Kamehameha competed against 62 schools in the small varsity division.
The 11-member Warriors squad will be featured on ESPN on March 23 in the finals competition.
"We were just hoping to make it to the finals," cheer team head coach Dolly Wong said. "To finish in the top five was awesome. It just blew us away."
Softball tickets on sale
Individual game tickets for Hawaii Rainbow Wahine softball games are on sale at the Stan Sheriff Center box office.The prices are $3 for adults; $2 for senior citizens, and $1 for students ages 4-18 and UH students with a valid ID.
The Wahine have 19 home dates, and begin the home schedule Thursday in the Chevron Paradise Classic.
Han, Nieman qualify
Hee Won Han was an LPGA qualifier for the second Monday in a row when she and Jody Nieman shot 3-under-par 69s yesterday to qualify for the Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open, which starts Thursday at the Kapolei Golf Course.Han had also qualified for last week's LPGA Takefuji Classic on the Big Island, but did not make the weekend cut.
Soo Yun Kang and Connie Wei missed qualifying by one stroke. Michelle Louviere, Laree Pearl Sugg and Pam Kometani of Hawaii shot even-par 72.
