Keys -- On defense, the Rainbows need to take care of the ball. Whether the coaches settle on a starting rotation or not this weekend, the series is the last before the WAC season opens. Opponents having been getting hits when UH pitchers have the count in their favor, indicating too many mistake pitches. The UH staff hasn't issued many walks, but needs to cut down on the mistake pitches. ... The Cardinals played four games against West Coast powerhouses on their way to Hawaii and.showed improvement each time out. They opened against Southern Cal and lost 19-4 and 11-4. Cal State Fullerton won, 17-8, and Pepperdine scored early, then hung on for a 6-4 win.
Also of note -- Louisville's Garrett Estabrook's father, Wayne, played quarterback for Hawaii in the World Football League. ... Louisville head coach Lelo Prado was an assistant for Team USA that played two games against the Japan College All-Stars last summer at Rainbow Stadium. ... The Rainbows are 11 for 16 in stolen base attempts this year. ... Aaron Pribble has two of the three UH wins, both coming in relief.

Keys -- The Wahine were able to build double-digit leads twice last week, then hold off Bulldog rallies. Hawaii took advantage at the foul line, shooting 23 free throws to Fresno State's six. ... It's no secret the Wahine success starts with defense. The Bulldogs are young, talented and athletic and must be defended for 40 minutes. ... Super sophomore guard Lindsay Logan, the only conference player to score in double figures every game this season, and forward Omelogo Udeze, the league's top rebounder, must be contained, but not at the expense of giving their teammates, especially guard Tiffany Simon, freedom to shoot and rebound at will. ... The Bulldogs will try to get more production inside to take the pressure off their perimeter players.
Also of note -- Hawaii's free throw shooting percentage, .748 (357-of-477) is second in the WAC and 19th in the nation. ... Kylie Galloway will reach the 1,200 career-point plateau the next time she scores. ... The Wahine have won 11 consecutive games against the Bulldogs. ...
