Just hitting the end of his second decade, guitarslinger Jonny Lang is returning to Hawaii for performances through the weekend. He first played here as the Rolling Stones' opening act at Aloha Stadium, and has since been featured on MTV, Disney World, dueling with B.B. King at the White House and singing the classic "634-5789" with Wilson Pickett and Eddie Floyd in the movie "Blues Brothers 2000."

His 1997 debut album, "Lie to Me," recorded when he was 16, signaled the arrival of a fierce young blues talent, and the track "Hit the Ground Runnin' " became a favorite cover of bar-bands nationwide. His second album, "Wander This World," delves more into traditional rhythm 'n' blues and funk.

Lang is from North Dakota, where his touring band was known as Jonny Lang and the Big Bang. After moving to Minneapolis, Lang's regional hit, "Smokin'," won him a record deal.

Before he died, blues master Luther Allison said, "Jonny Lang has the power to move the music into the next millennium by reaching the ears of a new generation."
