Jones: The Hawaii football coaching staff's recruiting chores are complete for another year with a late run of commitments.
recruiting class
is complete
Tomorrow is
letter-of-intent dayBy Dave Reardon
Star-BulletinIf all 20 players who have made verbal agreements sign letters of intent, the Warriors' recruiting class is complete.
Tomorrow is the first day high school athletes can sign binding letters of intent.
Per NCAA rules, Hawaii coach June Jones cannot talk about specific recruits until then.
But he did say he is happy overall, even though UH has apparently lost out on battles for several highly regarded local prospects after making a clean sweep of the Hawaii homegrown crop last year.
"I feel like we addressed our needs and it's one of our best classes since we've been here," Jones said. "After we get the letters of intent, we can talk more about the individuals."
The latest commitments, secured yesterday, include Isaak Sopoaga, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle from the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif. He chose UH over Texas A&M, Nebraska, Washington and several other major programs.
The native of American Samoa will have two years of playing eligibility at UH.
Also, two high school players from Houston committed to Hawaii over the weekend. They are 6-foot-3, 270-pound offensive lineman Brandon Eaton from Worthing High School and quarterback Omega Hogan from Aldeen High School.
The Hawaii recruiting class (pending letters of intent) follows.
