Tak joins 442ndThe figures are just now getting into stores and won't be available in Hawaii for a couple of weeks, according to Collector Maniacs in Kaimuki. The price range will be $35 to $45, depending on whether you shop mail-order. Collector Maniacs can be reached at 739-3912.
We took a look at the new Dragon figure -- a mail-order model -- and can report that like most Dragon releases, it's more finely detailed and has more personality than the GI Joe or Ultimate Soldier figures. Even the individual fingers are articulated, in case you want to have the figure make a "shaka" sign.
A big plus is the 442nd insignia on the soldier's uniform sleeve, missing on the Hasbro version.
The jury is out on whether "Tak" looks sufficiently nisei. He may look more Chinese or Korean.
