Saturday marks the beginning of what will be a monthlong celebration of Chinese food, arts and crafts and games, as the Chinatown Merchants Association, the Honolulu Chinese Jaycees and City & County of Honolulu present "A Night in Chinatown" to mark the lunar new year. Lions, dragons come out

Festivities on Maunakea Street, from Beretania to King streets, will run from 9 a.m. to midnight. There will be food vendors and cultural demonstrations throughout the day.
A parade -- with marching bands, Chinese lions, a dragon and grand marshal Miss Chinatown USA 2000 Jennifer Lin Hong -- will begin at 4 p.m. at the State Capitol Building, continuing down Hotel Street and ending at River Street.
In the evening, there will be two stages of entertainment, with Miss Chinatown 2001 Queen Nadia Chiang and her court -- first princess Chariya Tseu, second princess Christy Wong -- opening the stages at 5:45 and 6 p.m.

6:30 p.m. -- Lin Shu Fang Chinese Folk Arts Group

8 p.m. -- Gee Yung International Martial Arts Association

6 p.m. -- Introduction of 2001 Miss Chinatown queen and court6:15 p.m. -- Wing Chun Kung Fu Association
7 p.m. -- Rietas Chinese Kempo Karate School
8 p.m. -- Kuo Min Tang Physical Culture Association
9 p.m. -- Chinese Physical Culture Association
