An Internet report on a University of Washington fan site is claiming Chris Kemoe'atu of Kahuku has "soft committed" to the Huskies. Kemoeatu still undecided
But Kahuku coach Siuaki Livai and Kemoe'atu's sister, Pua, both told the Star-Bulletin yesterday that Kemoe'atu has made no commitment.
"He said he had a good visit," Pua Kemoe'atu said. "But I know for sure he has not committed."
The Star-Bulletin lineman of the year is also looking at Utah, Colorado, USC and Hawaii.
It was a memorable day for two varsity teams that won for the first time ever. Soccer
The Kapolei boys edged Waipahu, 2-1, on goals by Jason Leanio and Kerifiano Tuaniga, to win their first OIA game.
The St. Francis girls earned their first ILH victory with a 1-0 decision over Maryknoll. The game's only goal was an own goal.
Looking ahead
It's already time to start looking ahead to the postseason.SOFTBALL: The Oahu Interscholastic Association wraps up its regular season today with 10 games, and the playoffs run from Jan. 17-20. The semifinals and finals are set for the Hawaii Pacific Field in Kaneohe.
The Interscholastic League of Honolulu winds up its regular season Jan. 24. A championship game is Jan. 27 if necessary.
The state tournament runs from Jan. 31-Feb. 3 at the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
SOCCER: Five girls' teams (Kahuku, Kailua, Mililani, Pearl City and Aiea) have clinched OIA Tournament berths, leaving seven spots up for grabs. Kaiser, Leilehua and Waialua appear to be in good shape to claim postseason spots. The girls complete the regular season next Wednesday, and their tournament begins Jan. 24.
Three OIA boys' team have secured a tournament spot (Pearl City, Aiea and Mililani), leaving four teams in the West to battle for three spots. The loser of Friday's Radford-Waianae game will most likely be out of the playoff picture. The boys wrap up the season Jan. 18 and begin the OIA Tournament Jan. 26.
The ILH girls finish regular season action Jan. 30, and the boys conclude their schedule on Feb. 7.
The girls' state tournament is set for Feb. 7-10 and the boys play Feb. 14-17. Both tournaments are at Aloha Stadium.
