Star-Bulletin staff

Nash Subotic of Hawaii Pacific and C.J. Cowgill of Chaminade were named Pacific West Conference basketball players of the week yesterday.

In leading the Sea Warriors to a sweep of Western Oregon and Humboldt State last week, Subotic scored 56 points, including 38 against Humboldt State, and pulled down nine rebounds and made eight assists.

Cowgill scored 64 points in two games, including a PacWest Conference season-high 39 in a 103-to-96 victory over Seattle Pacific.

Fred Hooks of Humboldt State also shared player of the week honors.

Wahine alumnae to play

The University of Hawaii women's alumnae basketball game will be played at 3 p.m. Jan. 21 prior to the Wahine-San Jose State game at the Stan Sheriff Center. Former Wahine players interested in participating should call UHassistant coach Da Houl at 956-4507.

MISO starting new division

The Men's Island Soccer Organization is forming a masters division for players 45 and over.

The plan is to have four to six teams that would start play in February. A draft would be held of interested players to assure even strength teams. Anyone interested should call Victor Peters at 487-6819 or Sergio Bolioli at 521-4226.

Pappas takes first

Jan Pappas took top honors in capturing three first-place finishes at the 16th annual Honolulu Open Badminton Tournament held at the Aiea Recreation Center last weekend. Her wins included open titles in women's singles, women's doubles with partner Alice Cheung and mixed doubles with partner Darrell Siu.
