The nose gear of a Hawaiian Airlines' plane ended up
in the water when it slid off the runway in Tahiti
Saturday night.

No injuries were reported after Hawaiian Airlines Flight 481 slid off the runway while landing in heavy rain in Papeete, Tahiti, at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the airline.

The plane's nose gear was resting in the water when the aircraft came to a stop.

The 139 passengers were evacuated from the plane, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 that is leased by the airline.

Fifteen crew members also were on board.

The plane, manufactured in 1979, had been through a scheduled maintenance check on Nov. 29.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified.of the incident.
