Farrington High School graduate Tavita Tovio, a senior defensive tackle for Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, has been named to the Gateway All-Conference first team. Tovio all-conference pick
Tovio was a second-team pick as a junior, an honorable mention selection as a sophomore and was on the all-newcomer team his freshman season.
He recorded 88 solo and 75 assisted tackles during his four-year career. He had 40 tackles for losses totaling minus-139 yards and 12 quarterback sacks.
Quarterback Club meets
Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball coach Tita Ahuna, honored this week as NCAA Division II coach of the Year, will be among the featured speakers at Monday's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.Also on the program are Riley Wallace, University of Hawaii men's basketball coach, and Jim Barahal, president of the Honolulu Marathon.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Restaurant, followed by the noon program.
