Hula teacher Kanani Brighter



Fannie F.O. Abreu, 77, of Honolulu, a retired dietician, died Sunday in Kuakini Hospital. She was born in Puunene, Maui. She is survived by companion Charles Morikawa; son Joseph III; daughters Jo-Ann Howard and Shirley Abreu; brother Tatsuo Ono; sisters Yoshie Kurosu and Mitsue Kainuma, and three grandchildren. Dennis F. Bustamante Sr., 67, of Waipahu, died Monday in St. Francis Medical Center. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Lolita; daughter Imelda Kovaloff; sons Dennis Jr., Ricardo and Mario; sisters Carrie Butac and Cathy Israel; brothers Rodolfo, Angel, Chris and Larry, and five grandchildren. Masako H. Chong, 71, of Pearl City, a retired cook for Kabuki restaurant, died Friday. He was born in Pahoa, Hawaii. Lane K. "Bobo" Ciacci Jr., 47, of Wailuku, Maui, a financial adviser, died Dec. 7 in Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. Elizabeth E. Dumling, 85, of Lanai City, Lanai, a homemaker, died Monday in Lanai Community Hospital. She was born in Paia, Maui. Tapelu Pusi, 54, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Honolulu, a retired U.S. Army infantryman, died Nov. 10. He was born in American Samoa. He is survived by wife Lagituaiva; sons Tapelu Levu, Tapelu Pusi Jr., Johnny Garcia, Marino Garcia, Telley Pusi, Tuapo Pusi and Lionel Pusi; daughters Magnolia Tupua, Aofia Pusi, Paula Garcia, Jeanette Pusi, Sola Pusi, Christinia Pusi, Agnes Pusi and Vafee Pusi, and 37 grandchildren.
