Veriato stays in contention

Steve Veriato shot a 69 for a 54-hole score of 208 and a tie for 12th place in the Senior PGA qualifying tournament yesterday at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Big Island native trails Bob Gilder by 10 strokes going into today's final round. The top 16 finishers will receive 2001 tour cards with the top eight getting full exemptions.

Kaneohe pop warner schedules fund-raiser

The Kaneohe Pop Warner midgets team will hold a concert fund-raiser Sunday at the Castle High School football field from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fiji tops the list of entertainers scheduled to perform. Also set to appear are Mana'o Company, 3 Plus, Soul Free, Local Born and Cool Change.

Advance tickets are $12, $15 at the gate. Youngsters 7-and-under are free.
