Series -- This is the first meeting between Hawaii and Southeastern Louisiana. Hawaii is 1-0 against Elon and 1-3 against San Diego.
About the Rainbows: Hawaii comes off an 86-75 season-opening loss to Louisville in which the Rainbows turned the ball over 17 times and shot 3-of-15 from 3-point range. The eligibility of projected starting center Haim Shimonovic remains uncertain and he is not expected to play tomorrow. The probable starting lineup includes two players who didn't start against Louisville: G Mike McIntyre (6-3, 205, Jr.; 4.0 ppg, 3.0 apg) at point, and F Bosko Radovic (6-9, 220, Fr.; 9 ppg, 3.0 rpg) at post. The holdovers are G Predrag Savovic (6-6, 225, Jr.; 20 ppg, 5.0 spg), F Nerijus Puida (6-5, 195, Sr.; 10 ppg, 6 apg) and F Troy Ostler (6-10, 220, Sr.; 22 ppg, 13 rpg). Ostler sat out practice yesterday with a sinus infection, but Wallace said he should be ready to go tomorrow.
About the Lions -- Southeastern Louisiana's victories were Saturday over Dillard, 77-45, and Tuesday at Florida A&M, 76-65. For the second game in a row, Hawaii faces scoring guards in Marcus Kemp (6-1, 174, Sr.; 13.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg) and Jamaal Wolfe (5-10, 154, Sr.; 16.0 ppg, 1.0 apg). The Lions are at a height disadvantage at every position. The probable frontcourt starters are F Derrick Franklin (6-3, 210, Jr.; 6.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg), F Alfrado Jackson (6-4, 203, Sr.; 11.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg) and C Donald Ceasar (6-6, 207, Jr.; 5.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg).
About the Phoenix -- Elon's Larry McSwain and Brendon Rowell scored 14 points each in a 100-63 loss to BYU on Tuesday. The other loss was to Stetson, 75-46. Elon was 13-15 overall last year, but finished third in the Southern Conference. Trivia time: former UH guard Pop Dickerson transferred from Elon, and Simons is married to Duke women's coach Gail Goestenkors.
About the Toreros -- San Diego comes off a 20-win season, and the second consecutive WCC Coach of the Year award for Holland. The Toreros lost to USC, 78-67, on Tuesday, despite taking a 10-0 lead.
