Officer Lauriano Perreira of the Pearl City patrol district has received his second "Top Cop" award for winning the Honolulu Police Department's Fit for Life competition.

Perreira placed first in two categories -- control and arrest tactics -- and second in the fitness and firearms events.

The department has held two Fit for Life competitions and Perreira has won both.

Winning individual awards, which were presented yesterday, were Sgt. Samson Mahi (firearms), Officer James Grindey (fitness) and Lt. Frank Pugliese (men's 41-and-over fitness).

Mahi and Sgt. Richard Wheeler (firearms), the Kapolei-Waianae patrol district (fitness) and command staff (41-and-over fitness) won the team events.

The U.S. Secret Service also awarded plaques yesterday to 32 Honolulu police officers who assisted in an investigation leading to the arrest of 11 people involved in the manufacture of false identification cards.
