Athletes of the Week
Leanne Okamoto Rolled a 1,709 cumulative series at Kona Bowl on the Big Island to claim the girls' individual state championship, knocking down 17 more pins than runner-up Desuree Mariani of Nanakuli.
PAHOA BOWLING
Justin Peterson Finished the difficult 3-mile course at Hawaii Prep in 17 minutes, 35 seconds to win the boys' individual state championship by 20 seconds and help the Warriors to another title.

BOWLING
Everett Tom, Konawaena: Won the boys' individual state crown by more than 100 pins, with a total of 2,086.
CROSS COUNTRY
Annie Kawasaki, St. Francis: Won the girls' state championship at Hawaii Prep, in 13:26 -- three seconds ahead of King Kekaulike's Chandi Bickford.
FOOTBALL
Chanceton Mirafuentes, Kaimuki: Scored second TD of game in overtime to help the Bulldogs to a win over Castle in the OIA game for 3rd place.Marcus Salanoa, Kahuku: Rushed for 149 yards on 13 carries in the teams' OIA title game win over Waianae.
VOLLEYBALL
Kaimi Guerreiro , Kalaheo: Senior closed out high school career on all-tournament team, with 59 kills, 3 aces and 4 blocks in four matches.Leahi Hall, King Kekaulike: Had a tournament-high 22 kills against Radford.
Mike Harada, Punahou: Had 47 kills, 29 digs and 3 blocks.
Kaleo Ka'aihue, Punahou: Senior led team with seven kills in the finals.
Tiana Lum-Tucker, Kauai: Outside hitter planted 11 kills against McKinley and played very good defense all week.
Milia Macfarlane, Punahou: Setter named tournament MVP for guiding potent Buffanblu offense and also tied for team-high with 30 digs.
Elizabeth Narkon , St. Francis: All-tournament team member, with 38 kills (.276) and 17 blocks.
Tyler Padayao, Pearl City: Tallied 44 kills during the week.
Will Reppun, Punahou: Had MVP week with 70 kills (.382), 28 digs, 8 blocks and 5 aces.
Mark Rodrigues , Kauai: Finished the week with 38 kills -- with 13 coming in a single game against Punahou.
Kim Tano, St. Francis: Senior contributed 35 kills (.300) and 9 blocks.
Melissa Wilton, Punahou: Senior hit .359 and had 9 blocks (including one on championship point).
The Interscholastic League of Honolulu has claimed six of the eight state championships in fall sports this year. One state crown -- football -- is still up for grabs, and ILH champion St. Louis is favored to win. NOW YOU KNOW
Legends of the fall
Punahou secured three titles over the weekend, in girls' cross country and boys' and girls' volleyball. ILH schools St. Louis (boys' air riflery), Kamehameha (boys' cross country) and Sacred Hearts (girls' air riflery) have also won titles.
The Oahu Interscholastic Association swept the boys (Aiea) and girls (Pearl City) bowling titles.
All of the state champs have been repeat winners from last year except for the Pearl City girls in bowling and the Punahou girls in volleyball.
Kalaheo senior Steve Jenness won the Oahu Interscholastic Association cross-country championship in 16:50.4, beating his closest competitor by 17 seconds. BACK IN THE DAY
Twenty-Three years ago this week
Jenness, who was an All-America at the University of California, now coaches the Kamehameha boys, who won their fourth consecutive state title last week.
