The theme is based on HOT's season opener, "The Tales of Hoffmann," running Feb. 2, 4 and 6.
The "Tales of Hoffmann" begins and ends in the fictitious Luther's Tavern where the poet Hoffmann is awaiting the arrival of his beloved Stella, and the stage is set for an evening of storytelling as Hoffmann drinks and laments over three lost loves.
To attend the ball, you'll need to have a tux or ballgown, and at least $200 for a ticket. For more information, call 596-7372 ext. 14.

Halau from the mainland, Japan, Guam, Mexico and Namibia will return to the source, to join Hawaii's halau in sharing their love of ancient and modern hula.
A panel of 21 Hawaiian masters and kumu hula will judge the performances.
Ticket prices per night are $25 for the Judges Golden Circle, $15 for loge seating, $10 for general seating and $7.50 for the lawn. Children under four will be admitted free.
Tickets are available at the Blaisdell box office, and Ticket Plus outlets including Tempo Music stores, the House of Music, the University of Hawai'i Campus Center, the Waikiki Beachcomber MTI desk and MWR in Kunia. Expect an evening of mega-part harmonies, dance, funky instrumentals and memorable duets in the Sheraton Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom.
