"Magic & Comedy Blast!" on Sunday will close "Hawaii Magic Week 2000," a gathering of the Society of American Magicians. Magicians showcase
their art of illusionThe event takes place 6:45 p.m. at the Farrington High School Auditorium. Admission is $15; $10 of the ticket price will benefit the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation. Order tickets by phone at 526-4400.
Headlining the event will be ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, dubbed "the man who can make anything talk." He works regularly in Las Vegas and aboard cruise ships and has had conversations with audience members' wallets, dollar bills, socks, hats and shoes.
Also featured will be the Latin-style illusions of Armando, Curtis Kam from Hale Koa Hotels' "Magic in Paradise" show, and Carlos da Silva II, who has been featured on Pax TV's "World's Greatest Magicians" show.
The Society of American Magicians is the oldest magic organization in the world. Harry Houdini was the national president at the time of his death on Halloween, 1926. SAM created Magic Week in his honor to mystify, delight and benefit the community.
