LIHUE -- The owner of a Poipu real estate company and one of his clients have added a total of $10,000 to the reward posted for the person or persons responsible for a series of brutal attacks on Kauai's West Side that have left two women and dead and one severely injured.

The reward now stands at $25,000.

Bob Keown, owner of Makai Properties, said the idea came from Steve Sedgwick, part-time Kauai resident and owner of First Class Travel, a California-based travel company that specializes in Hawaiian vacations.

Kauai police continue to search for clues in the murders of Daren Singer, 42, whose body was found at a remote beach campsite on Aug. 30, and Lisa Bissell, April 7, whose body was found in a ditch near Polihale State Park on April 7. They also are investigating a similar May 22 attack in Kekaha in which the victim survived.

All three women were middle-age Caucasians with small builds. Each had been stabbed and beaten and the two who died were raped.

Keown said the victim who survived was a tenant of his and his company provided a place to live until she moved to the mainland. He said his company is keeping the residence available if she wants to return.

"I've lived here since 1972 and we've never had anything like this happen on Kauai," Keown said. "We've always looked at Kauai as a completely safe place."
