Noelani school wins Blue Ribbon honors

Noelani Elementary School in Manoa has been selected as this year's Hawaii Blue Ribbon School.

Noelani, which received $3,000, will now represent Hawaii in the national Blue Ribbon competition.

The school's track record of excellence stems from the support of parents, teachers, students and 14-year principal Clayton Fujie, organizers said.

Runners-up were Big Island schools Kohala Elementary and Waikoloa Elementary. Each were named Hawaii's Outstanding Schools and received $2,000.

The Hawaii Blue Ribbon recognition is sponsored by Frito-Lay of Hawaii.
