Southern Methodist University, defending regular-season champion, was picked to repeat in a poll of Western Athletic Conference women's basketball coaches.

The Lady Mustangs received six first-place votes and 61 points.

Hawaii, Texas Christian and Rice each received one first-place vote and are second, third and fourth, respectively, in the poll.

The Wahine tallied 51 points, TCU had 47 and Rice 44.

Rounding out the poll are Nevada (38 points), Tulsa (31), Fresno State (29), Texas-El Paso (14) and San Jose State (9).

SMU (22-9), Hawaii (20-9) and Rice (22-10) participated in postseason tournaments a year ago.

TheBus to UH game

TheBus is offering express bus service to Aloha Stadium for Saturday night's Hawaii-San Jose State football game.

The fare is $2 each way. Transfers are not accepted. Buses are wheelchair lift and bicycle rack equipped. Buses leave 15 minutes after the game, but won't leave without you.

Buses leave from Ala Moana Center, the Alapai Transit Center downtown, Hawaii Kai Park & Ride and Kahala Mall on Waialae Ave., far side of Kilauea Ave.

Buses also leave from Kaimuki fronting Liliuokalani School, Palolo at McDonald's, UH by Sinclair Library, Kapolei, Mililani Mauka Park & Ride, Village Park at Royal Kunia Park & Ride, Waikiki at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand and several Windward Oahu sites.

Kop wins Senior Amateur

Wendell Kop shot a two-round total of 144 to take the USAG-Hawaii Senior Amateur Golf Tournament's Championship Flight Tuesday.

Gary Haynie was the A Flight winner and Garrick Yanabu won the B Flight, while Bobby Perreira captured the C Flight.
