The board of the complex at 1314 Kalakaua Ave. will not renew the three-year contract, which terminates on Jan. 31, because it wants to find a local management company, said Francis Lum, resident and board president.
Des Moines, Iowa-based Life Care Services had been selected by the project's Canadian developer, Ira Young, in 1997.
The board has offered jobs to most Life Care employees, who are expected to rejoin, Lum said yesterday.
Life Care's separate 10-year contract to run One Kalakaua's skilled nursing facility will not be affected, Lum said.
