Dog day
afternoon

By Craig T. Kojima, Star-Bulletin
At 1934 Republican St., owner Walter Goo stands with
two 100-year-old stone foo dogs in the middle of his
wrecking yard. The dogs, traditionally used as guardians
for temples and shrines, are from a church in Moiliili.
Drivers can see them through the fence, and Goo says
tourists sometimes stop to wonder why the statues are
there. They are for sale by Goo's son-in-law's
family for $7,500. Goo can be reached at 845-1134.

Jeff Wong walks his three bearded collies, Shetland
sheepdog and toy fox terrier yesterday in Kapiolani
Park. Wong, who has two more dogs at home, says,
"Walking the dogs is good for your health, and it
burns off calories and cholesterol."
