The Beat Will Go On

Taiko drum expert Kenny Endo and his students are building
a 10-by-6-foot taiko drum on Ualena Street, near the airport, for
use during shows. Lynn Saito, front, Myron Akana, center, and
Selina Higa use muscle to tighten the drum. For more

‘Week Without Violence’

Marquita Marshman lights a candle in remembrance of victims
of domestic violence during last night's candlelight vigil at
Kawaiaha'o Church. The vigil was part of the YWCA's "Week
Without Violence." A march for "fairness in family court"
will start at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in front of Family
Court on Punchbowl Street.
