Nine homes in Manoa, St. Louis Heights, Kahala, Hawaii Loa Ridge, Hawaii Kai, Kailua and Kaneohe will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They're all either new homes or have recently been remodeled .
The Aloha Chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association is sponsoring the tour to give prospective remodelers a look at the latest in flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances and fixtures.
Examine, for example, a Kailua kitchen remodeled by Highline Kitchen Systems for a serious cook who didn't have much space. It has professional appliances, granite countertops and cabinets in a mixture of wood, laminate and glass.
Or, see a Kahala kitchen that was actually moved from street side to garden for the sake of the view. Or, a Kaneohe home that shows off eight different hardwoods and a concrete couch. Guess you'll have to see that to understand it.
For the $10 admission fee you receive entré to all the homes on the tour. Proceeds benefit Hawaii Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit group that helps needy families build their own homes.
Designers and suppliers will be around to field questions -- just in case you find inspiration in someone else's dream.
Maps of the tour route are available in the October edition of Hawaii Remodeling magazine and will be published in the Sunday Advertiser.
