The class takes place 8:45 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Aloha Activity Center at 725 Kapiolani Boulevard. The fee is $30 and registration is being accepted at 955-6570. Walk-ins will be taken.
Bobo recognized early the interest in natural bath-and-body products and said it's possible for consumers to create such products themselves. "It's easy once you learn the basics," she said.
Bobo is a member of the Handmade Toiletries Network, has been involved in The Handcrafted Soapmaker's Guild since its inception in 1997, and organizes the annual spring Southern California Handcrafted Soapmakers Gathering.
The festival begins tomorrow at Haleiwa Beach Park, running from 6 p.m. to midnight. It continues Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
"Baywatch" cast members are the defending champions in a celebrity challenge canoe race set to start at 10 a.m. Sunday. Teams will be fielded by Honolulu Fire Department, Crater 96, the U.S. Army and local restaurants, among other groups.
Other recreational events will include a paddleboard race, skydiving demonstration, fun run and fishing contest.
A petting zoo, craft and food booths, keiki games and an E.K. Fernandez carnival midway will be open throughout the festival.
Entertainment over the course of the weekend will include reggae from Soul Free and Fiji, rock and rollers All Natural, Ellsworth Simeona of "Raised on Rice" fame, and salsa from Rolando Sanchez.
